It may be a little bit country out here, but that doesn’t mean some of the food’s not rockin-n-rollin! But you can also contact Ate-o-Ate for all sorts of catering from private dinner parties (or private chef) to large weddings and during off season you might find their truck parked down the road from the motel. Ask for their bit-size reuben fritters. They’re like heaven wrapped up in a little ball with a kabangie wowie zowie!

The word “iconic” seems to be so overused. Every time you turn around something seems to be called iconic these days. But it’s an appropriate label for the Binnekill Restaurant which for decades was a staple for solid, consistent, wonderful dining in our neck of the Catskills. When the creators and original owners had to finally close the doors to enjoy their golden years, the building sat vacant for quite a few years in downtown Margaretville, NY (10 min from Roxbury). Recently re-opened in 2018 under new ownership we are thrilled to relay that the new Binnekill Tavern is back and better than ever! We love how they pay homage to some of the original Binnekill menu items that we all loved for so long while also bringing a refreshing new twist to our local dining scene.

The food needn’t be complicated, either. Brushland revisits the classics, the kinds of dishes that remain scribbled on recipe cards despite having seen centuries worth of culinary evolution. Boasting a chef trained in the pubs of London, this cozy hideaway not only knows how to do classic English pub fare with flair, it’s also a lovely drive to get there. Sit by the fire in the winter and you might as well be in Essex. Think low ceilings and hand hewn post and beams. The Scottish Egg and Fish & Chips with a Black and Tan are a must. If you get that I-just-gotta-have-some-Mexican-food-right-now craving, then this one will do it for ya. Don’t expect glamour. In fact, expect fluorescent lighting. However, the restaurant is owned by a Mexican family and all the staff are Mexican, so it’s about as authentic as it gets! And, yes, you can have a margarita too. That’s the most important part.

Truly one of the most beautiful outdoor settings in the Catskills. And literally just 50 seconds down the road from The Roxbury Motel, it’s perfect for when you don’t want to worry about venturing out further for a cocktail and a bite to eat. And for the summer/fall of 2022, the restaurant has been taken over by our friends at Ate-O-Ate Catering. They will be open on Thursdays and Mondays 5:00-8:00, Fridays and Saturdays 5:00-9:00, and Sundays 11:00-2:00 for a brunch buffet and then 2:00-5:00 for happy hour and tapas. A must for one of your nights with us when it is warm outside and you can sit by the lake. Oh and by the way, some of their Thursday nights have live music!
